About Us
 
Background
 
The Disciplinary Board was officially established in 1992 under Section 93 of the Legal Profession Act, 1976. The first Disciplinary Board Meeting was held on 16.10.1993. As at 19.08.2017 the Disciplinary Board has met 266 times. The present practice is for the Board to meet once a month. The current Chairman of the Disciplinary Board is Datuk Dr. Abdul Raman Bin Haji Saad. The Disciplinary Board comprises:-
 
  1. The Chairman appointed by the Chief Judge of Malaya after consultation with the Bar Council
  2. The President of the Malaysian Bar or any member of the Bar Council as his representative
  3. 15 practitioner members of the Malaysian Bar of not less than 10 years' standing appointed by the Chief Judge of Malaya after consultation with the Bar Council
 
Function
 
The Disciplinary Board adjudicates on complaints of professional misconduct by an advocate and solicitor or a pupil or a foreign lawyer registered under section 40J of the Legal Profession Act, 1976.
